Punta Bluff is located approximately seven miles below San Carlos and at best, is a poor anchorage. The author stopped and anchored here due to fatigue and also due to the fact that headwind and weather were encountered at this point making a crew rest advisable. Shelter is poor and if any sea state at all enters the anchorage it is going to be untenable. At about 1:00 A.M., a Santa Ana type wind of about 40 kts blew over the cliffs in the foreground creating a disturbing racket but since there was nothing but open ocean to lee, the author resacked, the anchor held. |
